Account Setup
Configure your YouCast account settings, profile, and preferences.
After creating your YouCast account, there are a few important settings to configure to get the most out of the platform. This guide covers your profile, notification preferences, timezone settings, and security options.
Profile Information
Navigate to Settings → Profile to update your account information. Your profile includes your display name, email address, and optionally a profile picture. While your profile details are not public-facing on YouCast, they are used in email communications and billing invoices.
- Display Name — your name as it appears in the YouCast dashboard and email notifications
- Email Address — used for account recovery, billing receipts, and stream alert notifications
- Profile Picture — optional avatar shown in the dashboard header
- Timezone — used to display scheduled stream times in your local time
Changing Your Password
Go to Settings → Security
Click on your avatar in the top-right corner and select Settings, then navigate to the Security tab.
Enter your current password
For security, you must verify your identity with your existing password before setting a new one.
Enter and confirm your new password
Your new password must be at least 8 characters long. We recommend using a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols.
Save changes
Click "Update Password". You will receive a confirmation email at your registered address.
Notification Preferences
YouCast can send you email alerts for important stream events. Configure these in Settings → Notifications:
| Notification Type | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Stream Started | Alert when a stream goes live | On |
| Stream Stopped | Alert when a stream ends or is stopped | On |
| Stream Error | Alert when a stream fails or is interrupted | On |
| Auto-Restart | Alert when the system automatically restarts a stream | Off |
| Storage Warning | Alert when storage usage exceeds 80% | On |
| Billing | Receipts and subscription renewal reminders | On |
Two-Factor Authentication
We strongly recommend enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) on your YouCast account to protect your stream settings and connected YouTube channels. Go to Settings → Security → Two-Factor Authentication and follow the setup instructions to link an authenticator app.
Protect your account
Your YouCast account has access to your YouTube channel's live streaming features. If your account is compromised, an attacker could modify or stop your active streams. Enable 2FA and use a strong, unique password.
Managing Your Subscription
Your current plan, renewal date, and billing history are available in Settings → Subscription. From this page you can upgrade to a higher tier, change your billing cycle, or cancel your subscription. See the Billing section of the docs for more details.
