Stream Settings

Explore all available stream configuration options and advanced settings.

Every stream in YouCast has a set of configurable settings that control how it behaves, what it looks like on YouTube, and how the system handles errors. This page covers all available settings in detail.

Basic Settings

SettingDescriptionRequired
TitleThe name of the YouTube Live eventYes
DescriptionDescription shown on the YouTube live stream pageNo
YouTube ChannelThe connected channel to stream toYes
PlaylistThe ordered list of videos to broadcastYes (min. 1 video)
QualityOutput stream resolution and frame rateYes
Auto-LoopRestart the playlist when it endsNo (default: Off)

Auto-Restart on Failure

YouCast automatically monitors your active streams and restarts them if a failure is detected. This behavior is always enabled for all streams. The failure-recovery system:

  • Detects stream interruptions within 30 seconds
  • Attempts to restart the stream automatically after a failure
  • Sends an email notification when an auto-restart is triggered (if notifications are enabled)
  • Marks the stream as "Error" after multiple failed restart attempts, requiring manual intervention

Scheduled Restarts

In addition to failure recovery, YouCast lets you schedule automatic stop-and-restart times for each stream. This is useful if you want to refresh a stream at specific times each day — for example to update the live event title, reset viewer counts, or maintain a consistent schedule. To configure scheduled restarts, open a stream and click the "Auto-Restart" button.

  • A weekly timetable view lets you set restart times for each day of the week
  • Up to 3 scheduled restarts per day per stream
  • Minimum 10-minute gap between restarts
  • Timezone-aware — set times in your local timezone
  • The stream stops automatically at the scheduled time and restarts seconds later

YouTube Event Settings

When you start a stream, YouCast creates a YouTube Live event on your channel. Some YouTube-specific settings can be configured through YouCast:

  • Stream title and description are synchronized to the YouTube event
  • Visibility can be set to Public, Unlisted, or Private
  • Category selection for YouTube discoverability
  • Enable or disable live chat on the broadcast
  • Enable DVR (allows viewers to rewind the live stream)

YouTube event limits

YouTube limits concurrent live streams based on your channel's standing and verification status. Most verified channels support up to 5 concurrent streams. Channels with fewer than 1,000 subscribers may have restrictions.
