Video Library
Manage your uploaded videos, organize your library, and optimize storage.
Your YouCast Video Library is the central storage hub for all your video content. From the library view, you can manage existing videos, view storage usage, rename files, and delete content you no longer need.
Library Overview
The Videos page shows a grid or list view of all your uploaded videos. Each video card displays:
- Video thumbnail (auto-generated from the first keyframe)
- Video title (editable)
- Duration
- File size
- Resolution and format
- Upload date
- Processing status (Processing / Ready / Error)
- Usage indicator — how many active streams use this video
Renaming a Video
Click on any video to open its detail view. Click the pencil icon next to the title to enter edit mode, type the new name, and press Enter or click Save. The new name appears in the library and in any stream playlists that include this video. Renaming does not affect the underlying file or any active streams.
Deleting a Video
To delete a video, open the video detail view and click the "Delete" button, or select the video in list view and click the trash icon. You will be asked to confirm the deletion.
Deleting videos used in streams
If a video is currently part of an active stream's playlist, you cannot delete it. You must first remove it from all stream playlists before deleting. If you delete a video that is in a paused stream's playlist, it will be automatically removed from the playlist.
Managing Storage
Your storage usage is shown at the top of the Videos page. The progress bar indicates how much of your plan's storage you have used. If you are approaching your storage limit:
- Delete videos you no longer use in any streams
- Compress large video files before re-uploading (use HandBrake or FFmpeg)
- Increase your storage quota via the Subscription calculator if you need more space
- Consider uploading shorter video segments rather than one large file
Storage alerts
YouCast will send you an email notification when your storage usage exceeds 80% of your plan's limit. Enable storage alerts in Settings → Notifications to stay informed.
Re-downloading Videos
You can download any video you have uploaded to YouCast at any time. Open the video detail view and click "Download". The original file will be downloaded to your device. This is useful for archiving or recovering original files.
