Common Issues

Solutions to the most frequently encountered issues on the YouCast platform.

This page collects answers to the most commonly reported issues by YouCast users. If you don't find a solution here, check the Stream Not Working guide or contact our support team directly.

Video Upload Issues

Upload is stuck at a certain percentage

If your upload appears stuck, try the following: check your internet connection, refresh the page and re-select the same file (the upload will resume from the paused point due to our resumable upload protocol), or try a different browser. If the issue persists, clear your browser cache and try again.

Video stays in "Processing" status for a long time

Processing time depends on video length and resolution. A 4K, 60-minute video may take up to 15 minutes to process. If processing takes more than 30 minutes, try deleting the video and re-uploading it. If the issue persists, contact support.

Video format not supported error

Ensure your video is in a supported format (MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, WebM, FLV, WMV). If you receive an error for a supposedly supported format, the file may be corrupted or use an unusual codec variant. Use FFmpeg or HandBrake to re-encode the video to H.264 MP4 and try again.

Channel Connection Issues

"Failed to connect channel" error

This usually means YouCast could not complete the Google OAuth flow. Check that pop-ups are not blocked in your browser for youcast.cloud, disable any browser extensions that block third-party authentication (like cookie blockers), and try the authorization in an incognito window.

Channel shows "Token Expired"

This happens when Google invalidates the authorization token — usually because you changed your Google account password or manually revoked YouCast's permissions from your Google account. Go to Channels, click the expired channel, and click "Reconnect" to re-authorize.

Stream Issues

Stream shows "Starting" for more than 2 minutes

Normally, a stream goes from Starting to Live in under 60 seconds. If it remains in Starting state for more than 2 minutes, try stopping the stream and starting it again. If this happens repeatedly, check that your connected YouTube channel's live streaming is enabled in YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility.

Stream went to Error status

The Error status means the stream failed and the auto-restart system was unable to recover it after multiple attempts. Check the stream's History tab for error messages. Common causes include expired YouTube tokens, YouTube API quota exceeded, or a video file processing error. Fix the underlying issue and manually restart the stream.
