The Headline Number
YouTube said that over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025. It framed the announcements as new tools for creators who stream.

What Was Announced

The blog post pointed to a community post for specific timelines and did not give exact launch dates for each feature. Several items, such as dual horizontal and vertical streaming, now appear in YouTube's help pages as available.
- Practice Mode: test your setup before broadcasting publicly, with no risk of going live unintentionally.
- Playables on Live: more than 75 games, such as Angry Birds Showdown, Words of Wonders and Cut the Rope, that creators can play while interacting with the audience and monetizing the stream.
- Streaming across formats: simultaneous horizontal and vertical broadcasting with unified chat, described as coming soon at the time.
- React Live: expanded from a pilot, for vertical mobile livestreams where creators react to other live events or creators.
- AI-powered highlights: automatic generation of Shorts from livestream moments.
- Side-by-side ads: a less intrusive ad format where ads appear alongside streams rather than interrupting them.
- Members-only livestreams: a channel membership feature for moving from a public to a members-only stream.
Which Matter for a 24/7 Channel
Features built around a present host, such as Playables and React Live, are less relevant to unattended pre-recorded streams. Dual-format streaming and ads are relevant to any live channel, and Practice Mode helps if you configure streams in YouTube Studio.
These are our judgments about relevance rather than YouTube statements.
What It Means for a YouCast Channel
YouCast turns the videos you upload into a 24/7 live stream that runs from the cloud, to YouTube and, with a stream key, to Twitch, Kick and Instagram, so there is no encoder to configure, no computer to keep awake and no home upload line to saturate.
Features built around a present host matter less to a pre-recorded stream, but dual-format streaming and ads apply to any live channel. YouCast keeps the stream running while you decide which of them to use.
You can try one stream on the free trial and add more streams as the channel grows.
